While the story of cryptocurrency and social media have been kind of up and
down situation, there is a considerable win for cryptocurrency in recent times
and the trend keeps straightening up to the upward situation now.
Recall that Youtube recently removed cryptocurrency related content from
there platform and has since been harsh on cryptocurrencies, this news may be a
huge shock and make a naïve one conclude cryptocurrency is losing but in fact,
google seems the naïve one and is almost the only last standing of all tech
giants against cryptocurrency, what many may call a poor foresight from them.
This is because google hasn’t been the only company fighting to move clear of
cryptocurrency, but they seem the only one now since all others have joined the
trend.
Recall that Facebook once implemented a general ban on cryptocurrency
contents and prohibit cryptocurrency advertisement on their platform the war
against cryptocurrency persisted until they realise they had better join the
trend now before it’s too late, then they announced a reduction in their strict
cryptocurrency regulation and allow full cryptocurrency content creation and
advertisement. Then almost immediately they announced they will be launching
their own cryptocurrency called Libra and like that they joined they train and
became crypto friendly. Other success stories include the telegram announcement
and Fundraising for their own cryptocurrency too.
Then almost all tech giants now have a foot directly or indirectly in
cryptocurrency. Microsoft partnered with Ethereum to provide Blockchain as a
service on their Azure platform, IBM introduced their Blockchain as a service
(Hyperledger). Then we can go on to Banks and Companies’ impleentatio and usage
of Blockchain, Crypto valley in Switzerland and the recently announced proposed
crypto valley in Dubai. The list goes on. Another is the increasing pressure on
governments to implement Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC).
You can no see why the google resistance may not last long with many of
their competitors already riding the wave and getting better.
Twitter and Telegram have been the most supportive for cryptocurrency in
general, almost all crypto projects use these platforms and it won’t be wrong
to say all crypto projects use those platforms. They represent the voice of
cryptocurrency and they’ve never implemented a law against cryptocurrency. But
the recent action by twitter is even more special and unmatched in the history
of cryptocurrency.
Twitter officially created a new Emoji for Bitcoin. The emoji is a logo of
Bitcoin and is usable across the platform. This is a trend, other social
platforms will be expected to join in so as to create a good user experience
for their users. Also many other cryptocurrency emoji may be added soon.
What is even more special is that the CEO of Twitter himself posted a tweet
to announce this, Jack Patrick Dorsey posted:
https://twitter.com/jack/status/1223841364711854080?s=20
#bitcoin
cc:@unicode
— jack ???????????? (@jack) February
2, 2020
He also changed is Bio on twitter to reflect the new emoji:
https://twitter.com/jack
This is not only a huge trend that may go on to reflect across the whole
computing world but also a twitter endorsement for cryptocurrency, this level
of endorsement will help boost the cause of mass adoption and awareness, many
other social and tech giant will look to do more in respect of cryptocurrency
adoption.
The hashtag #bitcoin used by Jack began to trend and many crypto users and
figures which include CEO of Binance, TRON founder and many others join in the
trend.
Usually twitter charges around $1 million for creating a unique emoji for
any brand or company, but they actually created one for Bitcoin for free, this
may be due to the decentralised nature of the currency but it all points to an
endorsement which is a good sign for the whole cryptocurrency world.
Other tech giants are expected to join in and some eve predicted a bitcoin bull to follow this great news. But whatever happens, this is sure a good pointer and a huge awareness, it shows cryptocurrency can’t just be ignored and will have many influential figures and companies curious. Google may soon back out on their war and join on as well so that they don’t lose out on a potential future.
Congratulations to the cryptocurrency world on this and please go on to share your own Bitcoin emoji and comment the link here.
